This is a permanent post at Grade 6 for 14 hours per week, term time only for 45.8 weeks per year.

Grade 6 - £29,071 for 14 hours per week term time only for 45.8 weeks per annum equating to £9,662.30 pro rata

Are you passionate about helping children learn to swim and develop vital water safety skills? We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled School Swimming Teacher to join our team, working with primary and secondary students to meet national curriculum standards through the ASA National Teaching Plan. This role will involve delivering high-quality swimming lessons, helping students achieve progressive skill development, and promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver structured swimming lessons in alignment with the ASA National Teaching Plan, ensuring all students meet the required standards.
• Develop, prepare, and implement schemes of work tailored to facilitate the continual development of children's swimming abilities.
• Organise and oversee swimming galas, events, and personal survival and life-saving instruction sessions.
• Assist the swimming manager in coordinating and enhancing the school swimming program.
• Maintain an accurate register of all participants in each session and provide written reports for each child's record of achievement.
• Undertake pool lifeguard training and adhere to safety standards to ensure a secure swimming environment.

Requirements:

• ASA Level 2 Swimming Teaching qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, coaching methods, and child development.
• Experience working with children in a swimming teaching or coaching capacity is preferred.
• Ability to prepare instructional plans and adapt lessons to a range of skill levels.
• Due to the construction of a new Welsh-medium school and adjoining leisure center, this position will increasingly support Welsh-language provision. If not already a fluent Welsh speaker, the postholder will be expected to learn Welsh following appointment, with appropriate support and training provided
