Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Support Worker within the Residential Children & Family Community Service to work full time based in Guernsey.

The salary for this permanent Support Worker job is up to £43,307 per annum.

Main duties:
  • Work with Children & Families in a variety of settings including residential care, leaving care, community placement and family support.
  • Contribute to the holistic assessment and support of vulnerable Young People to ensure their general wellbeing needs are identified, met and maintained.
  • Establish ongoing communication and partnership approaches between Young People & Families, Service representatives and any other relevant agencies or individuals to ensure a joined up and effective care experience.
  • Participate in the delivery of high-quality evidence-based service provision working within the boundaries of The Children's Law 2008, Health & Social Care Policies & Procedures, Children's Homes Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards for Children's Homes.
  • Engage in direct work with Young People that promotes their social, emotional, physical, behavioural, intellectual and moral development.
  • Work in partnership with Children's families and other professionals to ensure are Plans are formulated and adhered to and that the Child's views are an integral part of the process. This would involve being trained in the Family Partnership Model and implementing it within practice.
  • Facilitate an open culture where Children & Young People will be provided with access to information regarding their rights and responsibilities (including complaints) and that their thoughts and feelings will be valued and will influence and contribute to service delivery and development.
  • To have or develop an understanding of Attachment Theory and work in partnership to change boundary construction with Young People who display a range of behaviours.
  • To act an active member of multi-disciplinary team who assess needs, develop strategies and implement plans that can be used to support change and development, particularly to support self-esteem, motivation and resilience.
  • Ensure all documentation is recorded accurately, concisely and in non-judgemental language, in a timely manner in line with best practice/Policy & Procedures.
  • Work within boundaries relating to protecting and safeguarding Children & Young People and know when and how to refer a concern about Child Protection.
  • Work within the boundaries of States of Guernsey Policies & Procedures regarding Health & Safety, Data Protection, confidentiality and report dangerous occurrences through the correct systems when necessary.
  • Understand the purpose and participate fully in professional supervision and appraisals regarding your work and development needs and attend regular staff meetings to keep up to date with current team issues.
  • To attend and fully participate in training as directed by the States of Guernsey.

Requirements of this Support Worker job:
  • A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Continual professional development.
  • Social Work England registered.
