The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role.

We're seeking undergraduate students from the Faculty of Science and Engineering to work as subject support ambassadors at our upcoming open days in October and November. This includes students from the following Schools:

The School of Computing and Mathematics
The School of Engineering and Environment
The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences
The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences

Our open days are on the following dates:
Saturday 10 October 2026
Saturday 17 October 2026

Saturday 21 November 2026

If you are successful, you will be required to work all three dates - so please keep these free if you are selected.
Working hours are 9am to 4:30pm, with a 30 minute paid lunch break.

About the role
We're looking for students who are organised, professional, and enthusiastic to support our subjects stands at all three open days. You'll be required to proactively talk to attendees about your student experience, sharing the benefits of higher education and the key selling points of your course at Manchester Met.

Core duties include:
  • Represent your course and department area
  • Answering questions and sharing your experiences as a student with visitors and their guests
  • Where asked, you may be required to support academic staff during their subject talks and tours
  • Assist visitors with directions, guidance and general queries


Person Specification

This role is only open to current undergraduate Manchester Met students studying a course in the Faculty of Science and Engineering for the 2026/27 academic year who meet the following criteria:

  • Are available for the dates selected
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with staff, prospective students and parents
  • Able to be a positive role model to young people
  • Responsible attitude and the ability to show initiative
  • Able to contribute and work effectively as part of a team or independently
  • A commitment to providing excellent customer service and a professional approach
  • A positive perspective on Higher Education, educational experiences more broadly, and the University
