Shape the Future of Hairdressing & Barbering Education

Are you an experienced Hairdressing and Barbering professional with a passion for teaching, mentoring, and developing the next generation of industry talent?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Study Programme Lead & Lecturer in Hairdressing and Barbering to lead and deliver outstanding study programmes, combining inspirational teaching with curriculum leadership to ensure exceptional student achievement and progression.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of our Hairdressing and Barbering provision, supporting learners to achieve their goals while working closely with employers and industry partners to ensure our curriculum remains innovative, relevant, and industry-focused.

The successful candidate will lead programme planning, monitor student progress, coordinate quality assurance activities, support work experience opportunities, and drive continuous improvement across the curriculum.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across Hairdressing and Barbering programmes.
  • Lead and manage Hairdressing and Barbering study programmes, ensuring excellent student outcomes and experiences.
  • Take ownership of learner progress, achievement, attendance and progression.
  • Coordinate programme planning, induction activities and curriculum delivery.
  • Conduct academic reviews, tutorials and student performance meetings.
  • Support curriculum development to ensure programmes meet industry and awarding body requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers to enhance industry placements and work experience opportunities.
  • Support quality assurance activities, including internal verification and assessment practices.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate learner records and curriculum data.
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the department.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:
  • A recognised qualification in Hairdressing, Barbering or a related subject.
  • Teaching qualifications or a willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience teaching or training within Hairdressing and/or Barbering.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • A passion for supporting learners to achieve their full potential.
  • The ability to motivate, inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong industry knowledge and an understanding of current trends and practices.
  • Experience working with employers and industry stakeholders would be advantageous.

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction (must be completed within probation), followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET) including Assessor is required, and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. Completion of this structured learning programme is expected within 3 years. Furthermore, there is the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS).
