Job overviewAlthough this position is a 24 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 24 months.This is an exciting opportunity to gain a fully funded qualification and step into the rewarding world of Midwifery-all while earning a Band 5 salary. University fees are also fully paid for this course, allowing you to gain a qualification and earn a salary at the same time with reduced financial pressures.
The two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery aims to produce competent, caring, autonomous and evidenced-based midwives, capable of delivering effective personalised quality care for mothers, birthing people and their families in any context.
During the two-year course, time will be spent 50% with London South Bank University Southwark and 50% on placement at Whipps Cross Hospital.

Main duties of the jobTo be eligible for this programme applicants will need to meet the following entry criteria:• A registered Adult nurse (level 1) with current registration with the NMC;
• A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2:2: with a minimum qualification of Diploma in Higher Education with evidence of study at Level 6;
• At least 6 months post qualification clinical working experience as an adult nurse on the NMC register in the UK;
• For applicants whom English is not their first language, they must achieve a minimum score of 7.0 overall or equivalent, with not less than 7.0 in the listening, speaking and reading sections and not less than 6.5 in the writing section for the International English Language Test Score (IELTS) at the time of application OR for the Occupational English Test (OET), they must achieve a minimum grade of B overall or equivalent, with not less than a B in listening, reading and speaking and a C+ in writing.
The following is the alternative to the IELTS or OET
• You have completed a pre-registration nurse, midwife or nursing associate
programme that was taught and examined in English. During that
programme you must have spent at least half of your time interacting with
patients, service users, their families and other healthcare professionals,
and at least three-quarters of these interactions must have been in English.

Person specificationExperience Essential criteria - Worked in a variety of settings utilising all life skills or transferable skills
- At least 6 months post qualification clinical working experience as an adult nurse on the NMC register in the UK

- Able to work rotational shifts ie days/nights/weekends/ban k holidays
- Is in good general health and fit for the post as assessed by Occupational Health.
- Is able to undertake all duties of a midwifery student in the hospital and community setting.
- Satisfactory DBS check.
