About the role

Imperial is seeking an experienced Student Income Policy and Data Lead to join our Income team within Finance on a fixed-term contract until December 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic and data-driven leader to play a key role in shaping student income policy, improving processes, and delivering high-quality management information that supports decision-making across the institution.

Working within a complex and fast-paced environment, you will lead on policy development, data governance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring that student income processes remain efficient, compliant, and aligned with institutional priorities.

An immediate priority will be leading Imperial's operational readiness for the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE), as well as supporting the implementation of Oracle Fusion in 2027.

What you would be doing

  • Lead the design and implementation of the Banner Student to Oracle Fusion Accounts Receivable integration, ensuring robust data flows, automated billing triggers, and effective reconciliation controls to support credit-based billing operations.
  • Have accountable ownership of the functional roadmap for student income systems, identifying, prioritising and delivering system enhancements that strengthen processes, controls and service delivery across the University.
  • Monitor, interpret and implement relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and institutional policies, ensuring compliance with sector regulations, funding body requirements, consumer protection obligations, fee status guidance and visa-related charging considerations.
  • Manage Translation of policy into clear process designs, decision trees and Banner rules that are auditable and repeatable.
  • Lead the business readiness for the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) implementation across Finance, Registry and ICT.
  • Ensure Banner and Oracle are configured to support effective modular fee assessment, student funding administration and accurate fee processing
  • Oversee regular reviews of key controls, ensure timely resolution of identified issues, and manage relationships with auditors to support effective governance and compliance across income operations.
  • Lead the planning and execution of testing activities for income-related system changes, establishing acceptance criteria and managing UAT and regression testing across Banner Student, Oracle AR and interfacing systems.
  • Take ownership of process‑improvement initiatives and act as a trusted advisor on larger University projects as the income systems and policy subject matter expert.


What we are looking for

  • Degree or demonstrable equivalent experience with in‑depth exposure to credit‑to‑cash and student billing systems.
  • Relevant professional development in HE student finance, revenue cycle, systems analysis or financial controls.
  • Extensive hands-on experience configuring and governing student billing and accounts receivable processes within a HE student records system, ideally Ellucian Banner Student/Accounts Receivable.
  • Working knowledge of the Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE).
  • A proven track record translating tuition fee and funding regulations into system rules, processes and user guidance.
  • Be proactive and self-motivated, taking ownership, driving initiatives forward, and delivering results with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing a project of a similar size within higher education.
  • Due to the fixed-term nature of this role, ideally, we are looking for an immediate start.

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 December 2027.
