Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE Level including maths and English
  • Good standard of spoken and written English


Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapeutic support or equivalent


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the post and its duties
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of communication disorders.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Understanding of the need to adhere to policies and procedures
  • Basic understanding of professional standards


Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in an SLT support worker role
  • Experience of working in a therapy setting
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of communication facilitation skills
  • Understanding of the roles of the members of the multidisciplinary team


Skills

Essential criteria
  • To work both as part of a team and independently
  • Strong listening and communication skills
  • Able to demonstrate empathy with patients, carers and colleagues.
  • Able to communicate effectively, particularly where barriers to understanding exist
  • Able to keep legible and accurate patient information and records in English
  • To organise themselves and their workload
  • Able to identify when to seek support
  • To use a computer, Microsoft Office and learn new programmes/ applications

Essential criteria
  • Responsible and reliable attitude to work
  • Flexible, efficient and approachable
  • Able to work without direct supervision but under the direction of qualified staff
  • As this is a community-based role, there is a requirement to hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
