Job summary

We are excited to be advertising for a Speech andLanguage Therapy Clinical Team Manager, based within the South Devon andTorbay locality.

This role is for 1.2 WTE so we can consider full-time hours orpart-time. You will be joining the team at an exciting time of change, and youwill be supported throughout by a strong team who is passionate aboutdelivering high quality and innovative care.

In the role you will provide the day-to-day operationalmanagement of the provision of care and treatment within the Speech, Languageand Communication pathway, which consists of speech and language therapists andspeech and language therapy assistants.

This post holder will manage effective operational deliveryof the service in close collaboration with Speech and Language ClinicalSpecialists, senior clinicians and other service leads.

You will have supervisory skills and may complete clinicalwork across health and social care in different environments such as home,schools and clinics.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide effective collaborative leadership and day to day operational management of the clinical team.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of evidence based clinical care.
  • Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with other clinical pathways within the locality, health specialties and partner organisations.
  • Ensure the service is delivered in partnership with children, young people and their parents/ carers, ensuring their active participation is facilitated.
  • In partnership with the Operations Manager, ensure that clinical and non-clinical risks within the pathway are identified and managed effectively.
  • To maintain systems to monitor demand and maintain optimal clinical capacity within the team.
  • Work collaboratively with other leaders (professional, clinical and operational), to maintain excellent clinical standards and safety.
  • Ensure clinical provision in the pathway is delivered to meet key performance targets.
  • Provide supervision, operational management and support to clinicians , to understand and follow HR policies and procedures, ensure staff wellbeing and development and adopt a collaborative approach to engage staff.
  • Attend, participate and chair relevant meetings, adapting communication to meet the needs of others.
  • To deputise for the Operations Manager as required.

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises anAlliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes forchildren and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children andyoung people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay andSouth Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are workingclosely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver localityand county-wide based integrated access to all of our services.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth,Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinicaltraining placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake postgraduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has beendeveloped and refined in partnership with children, young people and theirfamilies/carers.

  • Experience of delivering a clinical practice within the area of specialty for children with complex health conditions - undertaking specialist assessment and treatment interventions for children and young people with complex health problems; including risk assessments.
  • Experience of supervising others and developing positive supervisory relationships with healthcare professionals.
  • Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.
  • Experience of delivering healthcare within an equalities and human rights framework.

  • Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body, e.g. NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP
  • Evidence of relevant CPD.
