Job summaryThe primary purpose of the position is to provide a general ophthalmology service based at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, the key responsibilities for this role are to provide general Ophthalmic services under the supervision of a consultant Ophthalmologist, working across theatre, specialist eye casualty and general clinics, supporting with triage of referrals and working as part of the on call 24 hour cover for emergencies as part of the 1 in 8 on call rota.
Main duties of the jobTo provide general Ophthalmic services, under the supervision of a consultant ophthalmologist. The post-holder would also be supported to develop a particular interest in a subspeciality area, complete clinical sessions in theatre, specialist and general clinics, support the eye department 24 hour on call for emergencies as part of the non-resident on call rota, be involved in triage of referrals and supported professional activities including research and audit.
To have excellent team working skills and the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-disciplinary team. To deliver clinical and quality targets both agreed nationally and locally.
Duties will be divided between direct care delivery and supporting activities such as administration and professional development.

Desirable - FRCOphth or equivalent or studying for further exams
Knowledge and Experience Essential - Completion of at least 4 years full time post grad training or equivalent
- Full registration and licence to practice GMC
- Demonstrate through understanding of health service delivery in the uk
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise workload
