We are a seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and innovativeSpecialist Speech & Language Therapist to join our team. You will workalongside a Professional Lead for Speech & Language Therapy, an Advanced Speech& Language Therapist, and a Speech & Language Therapist AssistantPractitioner, as well as holding close links with community learning disabilityand neurodiversity team colleagues.

You will be a key member of a large multi-disciplinary team, with theopportunity to help shape and develop the Speech & Language Therapy team todeliver consistently high quality care and treatment. You will also support thetransition from our existing service to the new development. The new unit willbe state of the art and has been carefully designed and developed withclinicians and people with lived experience.

This is a part-time role based at The Brook on the Langdon Hospital site at Dawlish.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for helping the Speech & Language Therapy service within the specialist in-patient unit. You will be responsible for undertaking speech, language & communication assessments, as well as eating, drinking and swallowing assessments as required. You will work collaboratively with individuals to implement evidence-based interventions.

Essential

• Recognized Speech and Language Therapy qualification (includ-ing completion of RCSLT NQP Competency Framework)
• HCPC Registration and License to Practice
• Registered Practicing Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
• Evidence of CPD in clinical area

Desirable

• Post Graduate Dysphagia Training

Knowldege

Essential

• Developing specialist knowledge of a range of therapeutic models and evidence base within the areas of Learning Disability and Au-tism
• Proficiency in objective and perceptual data analysis for both as-sessment and therapy
• Knowledge of RCSLT professional and clinical guidelines
• Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support, assessment, formulation and implementation of interventions for behaviour that challenges

Experience

Essential

• Post-registration developing experience in working with people with a Learning Disability and/or with Autistic peo-ple, with and without a learning disability
• Experience of working in a MDT

Desirable

• Experience in supervising developing and student SLTs
