Location: Council House/ Working from homeHours: 0.8fte Closing Date: 07/09/2026 Contract Type: PermanentStart date: 1 January 2027 (latest start date) We are looking for an experienced primary phase SENCO who has the National Award for SENCOs PG Cert (or a PG Diploma in SEND) to work under the guidance of the Educational Psychology Service to support the LA in the provision of advice for educational, health and care needs assessments.
We need someone who can start by 1 January 2027 at the latest.
The successful applicant will work as part of the Specialist Teaching and Psychology Service (STePS). You must be able to carry out in-person visits to schools, homes and early years settings in Derby City.
You must have excellent interpersonal skills and written skills. The role will involve a significant amount of report writing and you must meet all the essential criteria in the person specification.
The majority of your time will be spent carrying out observations and assessments; speaking with parents, school staff, other professionals and children; leading co production meetings; and drafting reports for children as part of the Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment process.
When time allows, you will also provide support to schools as part of a graduated response. This will include delivering training, producing written guidance and offering specialist support for children with SEND in mainstream schools following referral as part of the Intervention First Team.
