As a key clinician within our Core Needs Project and part of the Experts At Hand offer, you will deliver specialist clinical care to your own caseload and across the wider service. Working primarily within schools, you will assess children and young people with neurodiverse needs and formulate person-centred care plans. This role sits within the broader Children's Neurodevelopmental Team, so expertise and knowledge across neurodevelopmental presentations are valued.

You will be an autonomous clinician, accountable for your own clinical practice, delivering evidence-based triage, screening and diagnostic assessments for neurodevelopmental referrals. You will review referral forms, complete holistic and functional assessments, and provide clear advice and care plans.

You will support the Clinical Team Leader in developing and refining our neurodevelopmental assessment pathway, sharing specialist knowledge across the team, providing clinical supervision to peers and junior staff, and building strong links with our wider support and intervention pathways.

You will guide colleagues undertaking referral screening and low-risk triage, and help ensure consistent, safe signposting and risk assessment.

You will practise as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), working within a fully integrated partnership across health, social care and education, delivering truly joined-up support.

Main duties of the job

• Demonstrates specialist clinical skills when working with education settings as part of the Experts At Hand offer, completing functional and holistic assessments of young people's needs and formulating advice and plans.
• Demonstrates specialist clinical skills in Autism and ADHD triage, referral screening, and diagnostic assessment.
• Demonstrates specialist clinical skills within Neurodiversity to support service development.
• Provides specialist advice to other disciplines within their specific area of practice and supervises staff undertaking referral screening, as well as providing clinical advice to junior staff undertaking low-risk triage and signposting referrals.
• May undertake clinical audits and participate in research activities.
• Is responsible for their own practice and ensures effective patient/service user care is maintained, demonstrating effective time-management skills.

• Diploma or Degree in Professional qualification equivalent to RMN, Registered Social worker, OT or equivalent AHP
• A broad understanding of relevant policy, legislation drivers and their application to clinical practice and service
• Knowledge of Autism & ADHD, standardised assessments and their use in practice
• Registration with the HCPC/NMC or equivalent

Desirable

• Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level e.g. degree or post graduate level or equivalent
