Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic nurse to work within the Specialist Palliative Care team, 7-day service including bank holidays. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and delivering an innovative service model that aims to provide compassionate, high-quality care to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. You will need to have good clinical knowledge around end-of-life care, complex symptom control and advanced communication skills. We also encourage our Specialist Palliative Care team to take part in education both within the team and across the trust and will be expected to take on project work to improve service delivery.

Main duties of the job

As a band 6 clinical nurse specialist you will deliver expert clinical practice to patients with complex specialist palliative and end of life care needs. Your role will encompass elements of clinical practice, education, and service development whilst maintaining a strong focus on patient centered holistic care.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Hospital based Specialist Palliative Care Team. You will have experience in delivering end of life care and have the competence and confidence to assist in the management of patients with specialist palliative care needs. This will involve giving advice on symptom management, advance care planning , and delivering education to wider teams. You will work closely with members of the multidisciplinary team and will have excellent communication skills.

Informal visits are highly recommended.
