Education/Qualification

Essential criteria

• RGN / RSCN / RN(Child)
• Community Nursing /Specialist Practitioner Qualification or palliative care qualification
• Nursing and Midwifery Council Registration
• Evidence of post registration education and training including a teaching qualification

Desirable criteria

• Advanced Nurse Practitioner qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

• Extensive experience of working within Children's Nursing in a range of settings
• Children's Palliative Care Experience at Band 6 level
• Previous management experience
• Experience of liaising / negotiating with professionals

Desirable criteria

• Community based children's palliative care experience

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Expertise in nursing assessment / clinical skills
• Leadership skills and the ability to motivate staff
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Time management and prioritisation skills
• Knowledge of the purpose and value of Clinical Supervision and support of staff
• Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities

Desirable criteria

• Knowledge of legal and statutory implications / requirements for training parents / carers
