Solicitor (Litigation)

This position has been identified as a Politically Restricted post under The Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended) and the Local Government (Politically Restricted Posts) (No.2) Regulations 1990 imposing political restrictions on the holders of certain posts.

The posts are either specified in the Act or contained in a list which the County Council is required to prepare and maintain. The list includes specified and sensitive positions.

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Solicitor or Barrister to join our dynamic Legal Services team. This role focuses on providing expert legal advice and representation, particularly in Civil Litigation and Dispute Management. You will handle complex cases, including Adult Social Care debt recovery, commercial disputes, and property litigation. As a Solicitor (Litigation), your key responsibilities will include:
  • Providing legal advice and guidance to internal and external clients.
  • Representing Nottinghamshire County Council in civil litigation matters.
  • Managing complex cases related to Adult Social Care, commercial disputes, and property litigation.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant legislation and local government frameworks.

To succeed in this role, you should possess:
  • A law degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in Civil Litigation and Dispute Management.
  • Knowledge of local government law and statutory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with areas such as criminal litigation and employment law is advantageous but not essential.
