About the role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the team developing Lambda Feedback, an innovative software platform created at Imperial College London to support independent study through automated formative feedback. S upport ing thousands of students and deliver ing feedback millions of times per year, the platform is now expanding beyond Imperial to the wider higher education sector. In this exciting role, you will help shape the user experience by designing and improving the user interface and experience (UI/UX) .

What you would be doing

You will:
  • Develop, test and deploy user interface (UI) improvements, using React.js and Typescript, with continuous integration and continuous improvement (CI/CD)
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, students and other stakeholders to gather feedback and continuously enhance the software.
  • Contribute to the future direction of the product by sharing creative ideas, advising on development priorities and working collaboratively to deliver project milestones.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, collaborate with the development team, and support the user community


What we are looking for

You should have:
  • Experience developing modern web interfaces that users love
  • A strong understanding of software engineering principles and proficiency in at least two programming languages, including preferably using React.js
  • Strong problem-solving skills, a creative approach to software development, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, secure and accessible solutions.


It would also be beneficial if you have:
  • Experience gathering user stories and translating them into software requirements.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments and a DevOps culture.
  • Knowledge of TypeScript, CI/CD practices and project management methodologies.
  • Experience working in higher education or within a small, fast-paced startup environment where you've taken on a broad range of responsibilities.
  • A constant desire to learn and improve, especially with emerging uses of AI

Hybrid working may be considered for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
