The RoleWe are looking for a social worker to join the contywide Kinship Assessment Team. The team complete Viability Assessments and fll Kinship Assessments for prospective kinship carers, whilst considering and implementing spport alongside assessment to spport children to remain within their family systems.
The OpportnityThe Kinship Assessment Team was created in 19 and has expanded to meet the demand across the Conty. We are seeking an experienced, resilient, self-motivated, and creative Social Worker to join the team. In this fast-paced role yo will assess and spport potential SGO/Kinship foster carers who have come forward throgh the Pblic or Private Law proceedings, and want to offer long-term care for children who are connected to them. The team aims to ndertake robst, analytical, and evidence-based assessments which focs on the trama children sffered and how the proposed carer/special gardian will provide long term care for that child/ren. These assessments are prepared for the cort and for fostering panel, and therefore yo will need to be reqired at times to give evidence in cort or present yor assessment to or fostering panel.
From speaking to kinship carers, we know that it is essential for them to be flly prepared and informed to make the right decisions going forward. As a reslt, yo will spport the delivery of preparation training days to ensre that we give people the opportnity to learn and ask qestions.
The Social Work role within the team brings the following: An exciting opportnity to se yor assessment skills, knowledge arond attachment and trama and develop new skills.Hold a manageable caseload.Ensre ongoing development and training.Links with Coram BAAF and Kinship.Monthly spervision, peer spervision and team meetings.Working flexibly and manage yor own diary.Being involved in the continos development of the service within EssexTake part in training delivery.Spportive and helpfl colleages who are there for each other and where needed joint working is encoraged.Or goal is to become a centre of excellence, and we are continosly developing the service. The work is fast-paced and challenging yet hgely rewarding. We are two teams bt work as one service. As a conty wide service, we work across all qadrants, North, West, Mid and Soth and beyond Essex, so it doesn't matter where yo live.
We are looking for a social worker with:Experience and a good nderstanding of work within Children and Families.Experience of working within a Kinship or Fostering service is preferable bt not essential. Commitment to children remaining with their extended family when possible.Analytical assessment writing skills and record keeping are essential.ndertake sccinct, timely and thorogh assessments in complex sitations and to tight timescales.Experience of attending Cort, fostering panel and to prodce good qality reports is beneficial.nderstanding of the impact for carers of neglect/abse and trama on children and to provide spport throgh the assessment.Excellent commnication skills are essential as yo will be expected to work closely with families, other ECC services, inclding bt not limited to Fostering, Children in Care, FS&P and Legal Services as well as alongside external agencies.A commitment to flexible working is essential as some assessments will be ot of conty and/ or with families who have hge demands on their time.Be part of the dty system rota.To read more abot or bsiness area, please visit: Children & Families
