Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Social Worker within the Children's Safeguarding Team to work Full Time based in Guernsey.

The salary for this permanent Social Worker job is up to £69,427per annum.

Main duties:

• To assist in the provision and further development of an effective service for children and families within the Bailiwick by working closely with other agencies, professionals and members of the public.
• To make day-to-day decisions in accordance with the range of duties and within the parameters and supervision of the Team Manager/Deputy Team Manager & referring to the Team Manager/Deputy Team Manager as appropriate.
• Investigate alleged neglect, ill treatment or abuse of children & to make enquiries as to the need to provide services to such children.
• Investigation of Child Protection Procedures or an application for an appropriate order in respect of such children in line with the Committee's policy & procedures.
• The supervision of children subject to a Child Protection Plan within the guidelines set out by the Islands Safeguarding Children Partnership.
• The assessment of Children in Care in order that the Committee's statutory duties towards children are met.
• To undertake the preparation of reports, statements and such other legal documents as may be required in relation to children & young persons in both criminal and Family Proceeding Courts, and within the Child Youth & Community Tribunal within the relevant timescales and to attend Court & CYCT hearings whilst representing the committees within the parameters agreed by managers.
• To keep accurate and up to date records, using appropriate computer systems including evidence of assessments undertaken and visits completed, together with any other work carried out. All reports to be placed within family files i.e. electronic records.
• Work in partnership with parents, colleagues and other agencies ensuring the child is central to any process.
• To provide consultation to a wide range of people from a number of agencies where there is a need for knowledge of child, family & social care issues, and in particular regarding to safeguarding matters.
• To continually reflect on your own professional performance through appraisal and participation in regular supervision sessions with line manager as well as ongoing informal consultation to keep supervisor informed of any changes that require management decisions.
• Social Workers who are employed by the States of Guernsey will be expected to undertake a number of specialist functions throughout their work across the Bailiwick which will include undertaking child protection investigations, working with children in need, children in need of protection, children in care and children subject of care requirements in accordance with the Children Law 2008.
• Undertake any other duties as may be determined by the Head of Service, Children & Family Community Service, from time to time.

Requirements of this Social Worker role:

• A social Work Qualification or equivalent.
• Understanding of relevant legislation.
• Registered or eligible for registration.
