* Ensure a high standard of nursing care is performed at all times and reviews and regularly updates these standards

*To take responsibility for the assessments of the care needs; the development, implementation and evaluation of care to ensure the highest possible standards of care are received by patients

*To supervise and teach other nursing and non-nursing staff, acting as an excellent clinical role model and team leader to ensure quality care is delivered to the patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria

• Registered Children's Nurse and has current live PIN on NMC register.
• Evidence of recent and continuing professional development.
• Teaching/assessment qualification

Desirable criteria

• Diploma or Degree level study.
• Relevant clinical course
• EPALS

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria

• Post registration experience in Paediatric Nursing
• Experience of leading the Ward/Unit and ensuring high quality care is delivered
• Experience of completing & supporting with audits

Desirable criteria

• Experience with appraisals
• Experience of supporting a new starter/students
• Experience of Datix and complaints management

SKILLS

Essential criteria

• Demonstrates skills in leaderships & management
• Intravenous medications

Desirable criteria

• Cannulation & Venepuncture
• Understanding for managing early stages of capability, conduct & sickness absence
• Interview skills
