We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, clinically skilled and ambitious renal nurse to join Peters Ward as a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your leadership experience, develop your management skills and make a significant contribution to one of the UK's leading renal services. The Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre, based at Hammersmith Hospital, is internationally recognised and one of the largest and most comprehensive renal and transplant centres in Europe. Our service offers exceptional opportunities to expand your clinical expertise, work alongside leading specialists, and care for patients with some of the most complex renal conditions.

This is a pivotal leadership position within a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team. You will provide visible clinical leadership, coordinate the delivery of safe and effective patient care, support service development, and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of nursing practice.

Working closely with the Ward Manager, you will have opportunities to develop your leadership and operational management skills, including deputising for the Ward Manager when required. You will be instrumental in motivating and supporting the nursing team, promoting a positive culture, and driving improvements in patient experience and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

• Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
• Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care.
• Plan organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs.
• Assist in the orientation of new staff and students.
• Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
• Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
• To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
• Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior sister or charge nurse.
