Senior Therapeutic Radiographer (Band 6)

The Berkshire Cancer Centre, based across Reading and Bracknell, delivers high-quality radiotherapy services to a diverse population and is recognised for its commitment to innovation, patient-centred care, and workforce development.

Our department is equipped with:
  • Two dedicated CT simulators.
  • Four Elekta linear accelerators, including a newly commissioned machine.
  • Surface Guided Radiotherapy (SGRT) technology across all treatment units.
  • A Superficial X-ray Radiotherapy Unit.
  • High Dose Rate Brachytherapy services.
  • Advanced treatment techniques including SABR, VMAT, DIBH and Adaptive Radiotherapy.

As a Senior Therapeutic Radiographer, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care while supporting service development, workforce education, and quality improvement initiatives. You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team in an environment that actively encourages professional growth and innovation.

Main duties of the job

o Deliver high-quality radiotherapy treatments using a range of modern technologies and advanced treatment techniques.o Support Band 7 Radiographers and senior leaders in the delivery and development of radiotherapy services across Reading and Bracknell.o Act as an Operator under IR(ME)R regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment delivery.o Lead clinical areas and support junior staff in the absence of senior colleagues.o Contribute to maintaining the highest professional, technical, and governance standards.o Promote a culture of continuous improvement and patient-centred care.o Participate in service development, quality improvement, and departmental projects.o Support the education, supervision, and assessment of students, apprentices, preceptorship radiographers, and other learners.o Maintain and develop professional competencies through continuing professional development.o Participate in departmental shift systems and on-call arrangements as required.
