Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Technician (Anatomy) to join the Anatomy Learning Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting anatomical education, research and knowledge exchange activities within a specialist teaching environment.

About the Role

As Senior Technician (Anatomy), you will coordinate and support the day-to-day technical operations of the Anatomy Learning Centre. Working closely with the Technical Manager (Anatomy), academic colleagues and students, you will ensure that teaching spaces, equipment, anatomical resources and specialist facilities are prepared, maintained and operated to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities:
  • Supporting the delivery of anatomy teaching, research and outreach activities.
  • Coordinating cadaver and prosection management, including preparation, maintenance and storage.
  • Acting as a Person Designated under the Human Tissue Authority (HTA) Anatomical Examination Licence.
  • Leading embalming activities and maintaining statutory records in accordance with the Human Tissue Act 2004.
  • Preparing teaching materials, equipment and learning spaces for practical sessions.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to students, academics and visitors.
  • Monitoring equipment performance, arranging maintenance and managing consumable stock levels.
  • Contributing to the development of risk assessments, standard operating procedures and safe working practices.
  • Supporting compliance with health and safety legislation and University policies.
  • Assisting with the continuous improvement of technical services, facilities and operational processes.

Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RSci or REng/ABTT) and associate fellowship/fellowship of the Higher Education Academy are desirable but not essential.
