  • Work with relevant imaging departments to implement agreed research priorities, coordinate delivery plans, identify operational requirements, monitor progress and escalate risks. Support effective multidisciplinary working across the Hub and its stakeholders. Strategic and scientific direction will remain with the Directors.
  • Coordinate opportunities to share expertise with other centres and provide operational support for the set-up and delivery of multicentre imaging studies.
  • Provide quarterly and annual reports on activities relating to the Hub
  • Coordinate the development of funding applications for imaging research projects, working with investigators, finance and research support teams to ensure costings follow national and local requirements.
  • Support the identification of funding streams and contribute to grant applications. Monitor and report income and expenditure against approved budgets and escalate variances through the agreed route.
  • Maintain collaborative working with the RMH BRC, RMH CRF, the ICR and relevant NIHR groups to support delivery of agreed cancer imaging and AI research priorities.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technology, policy, funding and regulatory developments (i.e NHSX, HDR UK Gateway, NHS Digital, Innovate UK, EPSRC), and advise the Directors and wider team on their operational implications.
  • Support dissemination of cancer imaging developments by coordinating publication and presentation opportunities and maintaining effective working partnerships.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in a relevant life sciences, healthcare, research or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Well developed digital skills, including document preparation, data handling and use of standard office software
  • Experience of using research, project management or data systems and tools
  • Training or equivalent experience in research methods and Good Clinical Practice
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.


Desirable criteria
  • Postgraduate research degree or relevant management qualification


Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial experience of research management, trial management or operational delivery in a relevant clinical, scientific or academic setting, including portfolio, budget and reporting responsibilities
  • Experience of line management, supervision or coordinating the work of others
  • Experience of working with and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of governance and regulatory requirements relevant to clinical research, data driven studies and AI enabled research


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of developing or delivering training, induction or staff development
  • Experience of imaging research, radiology, nuclear medicine or AI enabled research


Skills, knowledge and personal attributes

  • Proven experience of team leadership and team building initiatives
  • Advanced organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of development and organisation
  • Excellent cross-disciplinary/interagency communication skills and ability to facilitate collaborative working relationships

  • Ability to support the development and delivery of research projects and service improvements within agreed priorities
  • Confident and articulate

  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service, particularly during reporting periods to funders

Flu Vaccination - What We Expect of our Staff

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
