Job overview

This is a fixed-term maternity cover opportunity for an experienced safeguarding practitioner to join the Corporate Safeguarding Team. Whilst working within an integrated all-age safeguarding service, the post holder will predominantly support the children's safeguarding function, providing expert advice, support, supervision and training across acute and community services. The role contributes to the Trust's statutory safeguarding responsibilities and promotes positive outcomes for children, young people and their families.

We are looking for an experienced practitioner who is currently working within a safeguarding setting, either in an all-age safeguarding role or one focused on children or adults at risk. Applicants with experience in either area are encouraged to apply; however, the successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain expertise in safeguarding children and child protection to support the primary focus of this role.

Main duties of the job

The adult and children's safeguarding teams are based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital but have responsibility for working with acute and community services provided, which will therefore require travel trustwide.

This post will work within the integrated safeguarding team in order to provide:

• expert advice and support for colleagues in relation to safeguarding adults and child protection concerns
• safeguarding adults and child protection training for all colleagues
• safeguarding adults and child protection supervision for colleagues
• support paediatric liaison activities to enhance continuity of care and integrated child health services.
• effective communication channels with the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Adults and Children's boards
• robust internal policies and guidelines for safeguarding adults and child protection.
