Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic Physiotherapist , who has wide ranging clinical experience, good communication and interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering high quality patient-centred care to join our Critical Care, Respiratory & cardiothoracic teams.

Join our friendly and supportive team of therapists, where continuous professional development, research and quality improvement processes are encouraged .There is a well-established in-service education programme, where you can build upon your clinical and managerial skills with support from senior clinical leads.

Candidates will be expected to join and partake in our overnight emergency on call rota and weekend working rotas and previous experience of working within respiratory / Critical Care field is essential. You will also be expected to work as part of a seven day rota.

Main duties of the job

Within this role you will need:

• To be responsible for the Physiotherapy intervention for patients admitted to CCU and the acute respiratory adult in patient ward and cardiothoracic centre
• To undertake assessments of respiratory out patients as required
• Prioritise physiotherapy referrals in order to implement effective and timely caseload management
• Determine clinical diagnosis and provide physiotherapy treatment indicated as an autonomous practitioner, developing appropriate care plans, giving specialist clinical/professional advice to patients, carers and other Health Care Professionals

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• HCPC registered physiotherapist
• Degree/diploma in Physiotherapy
• Evidence of relevant CPD

Desirable criteria

• Clinical Educator's course

Managerial

Essential criteria

• Evidence of supervision of staff or students

Desirable criteria

• Teaching/presentation experience

knowledge and skills

Essential criteria

• Previous Band 5 or 6 physiotherapy experience within the NHS
• Evidence of working within respiratory/critical care
• Respiratory On Call experience

Desirable criteria

• Cardiothoracic experience
