Nottinghamshire County Council are looking for experienced Organisation Development professionals who enjoy helping organisations tackle complex challenges and improve how they work. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our organisational improvement journey, working on high-profile priorities that have a real and lasting impact on our workforce, services and communities.
Joining a newly formed Workforce and Organisation Development (OD) function, you'll work with leaders and teams across the Council to support organisational change, strengthen leadership, improve culture and help shape the future direction of the organisation.
What you'll bring We're looking for someone who can:
- Build credibility and trusted relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders.
- Translate organisational challenges into practical and effective solutions.
- Navigate complexity, ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Use evidence and insight to influence thinking and shape decisions.
- Diagnose issues, identify root causes and develop targeted interventions.
- Lead organisation development activity that delivers measurable impact.
- Support organisations and teams through change with confidence and empathy.
You'll bring experience of working in organisation development, change, leadership, culture or related disciplines, alongside a commitment to helping organisations and people succeed.
Role background This is a rare opportunity to join Nottinghamshire County Council at a pivotal point in our organisational journey. The next few years will bring significant change as we implement an ambitious programme of transformation and service improvement.
In response, we are establishing a new Workforce and Organisation Development (WOD) function that will play a critical role in helping the organisation adapt, strengthen leadership and culture, develop workforce capability, and successfully navigate organisational change.
What you'll be doing As a Senior Organisation Development Practitioner, you will:
- Act as a trusted advisor and partner to senior leaders across the Council, helping identify organisational challenges, opportunities and priorities, and providing expert advice on leadership, culture, organisation design and change to support organisational effectiveness and performance.
- Support services through periods of change, helping leaders and employees understand, adopt and embed new ways of working.
- Work on a varied and rewarding portfolio of organisation-wide priorities, supporting leaders and teams through change and helping shape interventions that improve organisational effectiveness and deliver better outcomes for residents.
- Champion inclusive and evidence-based approaches to organisation development, ensuring all interventions support positive employee experience and organisational performance.
Why join us? This is more than an OD role. It's an opportunity to help build and shape a newly formed Workforce and Organisation Development function and influence how one of the largest councils in the country develops its people, leaders and organisation over the coming years.
You will have the chance to influence leadership, culture and organisational effectiveness on a broad scale, while working collaboratively with talented colleagues across Workforce Development, HR and Transformation to drive meaningful change and lasting impact.
At Nottinghamshire County Council, we offer: - A Place to Belong: A friendly, inclusive workplace where everyone is valued.
- Professional Growth: Opportunities for continuous learning and career development.
- Work-Life Balance: Flexible working arrangements to support your personal and professional life.
- Generous Leave: A competitive leave package (28 rising to 33 days after 5 years' service) to ensure you have time to recharge.
