At Nottinghamshire County Council, we are dedicated to serving our community with integrity and excellence. Our Internal Audit Team plays a vital role in providing assurance over our services. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Internal Auditor to join our high quality team and make a significant contribution.

As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will conduct complex audits with minimal supervision, contributing to the success of our Internal Audit Team's objectives. Your expertise will help us maintain high standards of governance and control, ensuring that we serve our community effectively.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare draft and final reports, complete with supporting documentation.
  • Keep the Team Manager informed of significant matters, including any suspected fraud.
  • Liaise with departmental managers to discuss audit scope and outcomes.
  • Provide advice on financial and other controls to relevant stakeholders.

To thrive in this role, you should have:
  • CMIIA or CCAB accounting qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years' recent audit experience.
  • Knowledge of internal audit theory and Global Internal Audit Standards as applied in the UK Public Sector.
  • Experience in providing advice on internal audit and control.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, especially in report writing.
  • The ability to make decisions and solve problems effectively.
  • A high level of personal drive and commitment to customer care.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload efficiently.

At Nottinghamshire County Council, we believe in creating a supportive environment where everyone feels valued. We offer:
  • A place to belong: a friendly, inclusive workplace.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
  • A competitive salary and generous leave entitlements.
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance. The role allows hybrid working, although there will be an expectation to attend our current office base on a frequent basis, currently for a minimum of 2 days per week, to suit the needs of the business.

Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to make a difference in your community! If you are ready to take on a rewarding challenge as a Senior Internal Auditor, we want to hear from you. Apply today and join us in our mission to serve Nottinghamshire with excellence!
