Job description

Fixed term for 2 yearsFull time 37 hours per week Help shape the future of local government in Devon. Do it for Devon.

Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) represents one of the most significant changes to local government in Devon for a generation. As part of this transformational programme, Devon County Council is preparing its finance systems, processes and data to support future organisational arrangements and ways of working.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Financial Systems Support Analyst to play a key role in this journey.

What you'll be doing

This is a unique opportunity to work at the heart of a high-profile programme that will help define how financial services are delivered across Devon in the future. Working as part of the Financial Information Systems Team, you will support the analysis, design and implementation of finance system changes required to support Local Government Reorganisation.

You will work closely with colleagues across Devon's councils and partner organisations to gather and analyse information about existing finance systems, business processes, data structures and operating models. Using this insight, you will help identify opportunities for alignment and improvement, support the development of future solutions, and assist with the configuration, testing and implementation of system changes.

What we are looking for

The role offers a varied mix of stakeholder engagement, business analysis, data analysis, system administration and project delivery. No two days will be the same as you help translate complex organisational requirements into practical system solutions that support the successful delivery of LGR.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has experience supporting, administering or developing complex business systems.
  • Has strong analytical skills and can confidently interpret and present complex information.
  • Enjoys gathering requirements, understanding business processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Can build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both within and outside the organisation.
  • Has experience working with large datasets and can analyse information to support decision-making.
  • Can support system configuration, testing and implementation activities.
  • Has excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where change, collaboration and continuous improvement are valued.

What you'll gain In return, you'll join a supportive and ambitious team working on one of the largest transformation programmes currently underway in local government. Your work will make a direct contribution to shaping the future finance systems, data and processes that support public services across Devon.

The role is based at County Hall, Exeter, with hybrid working arrangements. Team members are expected to work from the office up to approximately three days per week.

If you're looking for an opportunity to combine systems expertise, business analysis and transformation delivery while helping shape the future of local government in Devon, we'd love to hear from you.

For an informal discussion please contact Mark Smaldon, Head of Financial Information Systems [email protected] .
