Job summary

We are thrilled to invite you to join the award-winning Clinical Science Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, recognised as the Healthcare Science Team of the year 2026.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive individual with excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills who enjoys working in a busy acute care environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop specialist skills, knowledge, and experience in critical care, while contributing as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team.

The successful applicant will work as a Senior Critical Care Scientist/Technologist, providing specialist clinical technology support, delivering critical care medical device training, and supporting advanced clinical therapies and monitoring systems used in the care of critically ill patients. The post holder will also contribute to the supervision, training, and development of Scientist Training Programme (STP) trainees and other members of the Critical Care Science team.

A high level of technical expertise and substantial experience within a critical care environment are essential. Completion of the Scientist Training Programme (STP), registration as a Clinical Scientist with the HCPC, and experience in a leadership or supervisory role are desirable.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist clinical and technical support for advanced critical care technologies.
  • Deliver training and competency assessments for critical care staff on medical devices and clinical equipment.
  • Support the safe introduction, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies and treatment modalities.
  • Assist in the management, troubleshooting, and optimisation of critical care medical equipment.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, audit, and governance activities.
  • Support STP trainees, junior staff, and multidisciplinary colleagues through teaching, supervision, and mentorship.
  • Work collaboratively with clinicians, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and Clinical Technical Services to ensure safe and effective patient care.
