Senior Clinical Support Worker

Job description

• Support the medical and nursing teams in delivering high-quality care to patients receiving radiotherapy treatment within the outpatient setting.
• Assist with radiotherapy review clinics, ensuring patients are prepared for assessment and that clinical areas are appropriately organised.
• Provide holistic support to patients throughout their treatment journey, identifying concerns and escalating issues to the appropriate clinician where required.
• Support patients experiencing treatment-related side effects, ensuring concerns are promptly communicated to the nursing or medical team.
• Undertake patient observations and clinical monitoring as delegated and within the scope of competence.
• Assist with the coordination and flow of patients through clinics and treatment areas, helping to minimise delays and improve the patient experience.
• Provide practical and emotional support to patients and their families, promoting dignity, comfort and wellbeing throughout treatment.
• Contribute to patient education by reinforcing information and advice provided by medical and nursing staff regarding treatment, side effect management and self-care.
• Ensure clinical areas are appropriately stocked, equipment checks are completed, and infection prevention standards are maintained.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and support administrative processes associated with outpatient radiotherapy services.
• Act as an advocate for patients, recognising changes in condition or concerns and escalating these appropriately.
• Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.
• Participate in mandatory training, competency assessments, audits and quality improvement initiatives relevant to the role.
• Support the maintenance of a safe clinical environment in accordance with Trust policies, procedures and professional standards

• Minimum 12 months care experience
• Evidence of good numeracy and literacy as demonstrated through the UHNM Trust L1 assessment.
• Care Certificate (If no care experience this is mandatory to undertake in the first 12 weeks of employment commencing)
• Hold or be working towards a vocational qualification in a care environment such as NVQ Level 2 qualification.

• Understanding of the basic care needs by nursing assistants.
• Able to use your own initiative. Ability to work as part of a team Reliability

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft office: Word, Excel, access and Power-point

• Ability to motivate and support others
