Job summary

We are delighted to be recruiting a Senior ClinicalPsychologist with preceptorship opportunity (Band 7-8a) to join the EatingDisorder Pathway within Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD).

This role isoffered as a full time opportunity throughout the preceptorship at Band 7,decreasing to 30 hours (0.8 WTE), at Band 8a on completion.

The post isbased in South Devon & Torbay.

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to thedevelopment and delivery of high-quality psychological care for children andyoung people experiencing difficulties with restrictive eating disorders.

The Eating Disorder pathway is part of our wider integratedmodel of care in CFHD, supporting young people with difficulties such as lowmood, anxiety, emotional dysregulation and relational challenges. You will bepart of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team, working closely with colleaguesacross health, education and social care to deliver formulation-driven,trauma-informed interventions.

This is an ideal role for Clinical Psychologists looking todevelop or take on senior responsibilities with a blend of therapeutic work,clinical leadership and service development, in a beautiful part of thecountry.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Psychologist in the eating disorder pathway,you will be offering high-quality complex assessments and psychological inputto children, young people and families. You will bring advanced formulation andconsultation skills alongside wider service development contributions. Whileeating disorders are a specialist area, you will be working with variouscomorbidities such as anxiety, OCD, BDD and trauma. We offer cognitiveassessments as well as opportunities to develop systemic practice. This makesit a great opportunity to gain specialist knowledge whilst maintaining variety.

There will be CPD opportunities to support you. For example,colleagues have accessed training in ARFID, AFT, TF-CBT and other models.

We are keen to support CBT for eating disorders as an offerwithin the pathway and would welcome applications from those already trained,or who wish to undertake further training such as CBT-E and CBT-T.

We encourage interest from candidates with diversebackgrounds and experiences, both personal and professional.

You will have regular clinical supervision and separate linemanagement. You will be supported with a job plan and opportunities to developsupervision, leadership, research and service development skills. There is astrong and friendly network of Clinical Psychologists working across CFHD,enjoying shared CPD and professional support. We also have excellent links withlocal Doctoral courses for teaching and Trainee placements.

Essential

• A Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent e.g. Masters level qualification in Clinical Psychology if qualified before 1996.
• Active registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.

Desirable

• Post qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young people
• Post qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision.

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
• Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies
• Experience of working with a range of children and young people with complex needs maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse
• Experience of undertaking specialist psychological assessments and providing evidence based interventions, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments.
• Experience in providing teaching and training
• Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.
• Experience that evidences an ability to attend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice.
• Experience of managing and processing emotionally distressing information, seeking support as required

• Experience in using neuropsychological assessments of cognitive functioning and/or learning disabilities in the context of diagnostic assessments of learning disabilities
