Job summary

To work efficiently within a multi-disciplinary team providing a service of basic and more complex investigations within the Trust and services offered by the Trust. Facilitate with the expansion of the pacing service into the new purpose build CDC at St Margarets Hospital Epping
Main duties of the job

Perform a variety of complex diagnostic tests for the cardiac assessment unit following a daily workload schedule as instructed.To provide written reports for all investigations.Communicate effectively with other staff members.Organisation of departmental diaries and day to day service provision.Assist with writing and development of department protocolsSupport education, training and personal development of other team members.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To independently perform and report transthoracic Echocardiography.

To participate in specialist echo including TOE, DSE, LVO and bubble echo

To analyse and provide a written report for 24 hour (or longer) ECG recordings using Pathfinder Digital or Pathfinder SL.

To analyse Event Monitors.

To lead Exercise Tolerance tests and provide a written report.

To teach and supervise junior members of staff and student physiologists.

Assist with training other staff (including junior medical staff) in the performance and technique of tests performed within the department.

To use the Hospital Patient Administration system (Cosmic).

To use the Cardiology patient management system (CRIS)

To maintain a clean working environment.

Be flexible to provide cover at other sites.

Assist as required with research projects undertaken.

Identify own training needs and maintain own skill development.

Essential

  • Degree in Cardiac Physiology (or equivalent qualification)
  • BSE (British Society of Echocardiography) accreditation or equivalent professional accreditation (ARDMS)
  • Ability to travel between Trust sites as required
Desirable

  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification
Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years experience working at a senior level within a cardiac physiology/echocardiography role
  • Significant experience in performing and reporting a wide range of non-invasive cardiac investigations, including advanced echocardiography
  • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical environment
  • Experience using cardiology and patient administration systems (e.g. CRIS, Cerner or equivalent)
Desirable

  • Involvement in service development, audit, or quality improvement activities
