Job Description: Senior Development Analyst - SQL, R, Python, Alteryx, VBA or Tableau
York based with 2/3 days from home
A fantastic role developing, improving and maintaining our modelling tools using SQL, R, Python and Alteryx.
As an integral part of the team you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the technical tools needed to drive our Property, Casualty, & Cyber exposure management activities. The role reports to the Head of Property Catastrophe Risk, and is part of a wider Underwriting Risk and Reinsurance function led by the Director of Underwriting Risk & Reinsurance, reporting to the Group CUO.
The team's goals are:
Ensure catastrophe exposures are understood, measured, and communicated and are in line with internal and external appetites - no surprises.
Own, manage, and embed the Hiscox View of Risk for Natural Catastrophe risk
Ensure best practice in Catastrophe Risk Analysis and compliance with regulatory requirements
Ensure Hiscox is taking the right sized bet in the right places
Meet internal committee, regulatory, and rating agency reporting requirements
Support reinsurance purchase
Provide inputs to other internal teams - Risk/Capital
You'll develop and support the tools used by the exposure management teams: The team uses a range of complex spreadsheets, sql and R code solutions that have be developed over the years. We are looking for someone to take ownership of these tools, establish which controls should be in place and ensure we are using the most appropriate technology.
Engage with the IT function: Some of the tools will acquire size and maturity and may best suited by support from Group IT. In these circumstances we are looking for someone to support the transition and ensure the appropriate review and SLAs are in place.
Involved in our technology strategy: Thought leadership / medium term strategy on tech direction of the Group exposure management team.
Person Specification: To perform this role you will have;
Experience with technical tools such as SQL, R, Python, Alteryx, VBA or Tableau
Understanding of catastrophe models and reinsurance
