Applicants mst have a crrent, nrestricted right to work in the K.The RoleEssex Special Edcational Needs & Disability Information, Advice and Spport Service (SEND IASS) are looking for a warm, enthsiastic person with excellent commnication, interpersonal and organisational skills for this demanding bsy post.
The role reqires the post-holder to provide impartial, confidential, and accrate information, advice and spport abot edcation, health and social care to and for children, yong people and their parents on matters relating to special edcational needs and disabilities, as well as professionals working with the families.
The sccessfl candidate will spport families to nderstand their rights, roles, and responsibilities, empower them to give their views, and encorage them to be at the centre of making informed decisions related to edcation, health, and social care. The need for strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage sitations of conflict is essential to ensre the best otcome is achieved for the children and yong people concerned.
The OpportnityThe post reqires an excellent knowledge of Special Edcational Needs and Disabilities, SEND legislation, and the additional spport that can be provided to ensre best otcomes are achieved. Previos experience of spporting and working directly with parents and/or yong people is reqired.
The need to work flexibly is essential de to the changing demands of the role and the need to respond to parents in crisis. The working environment is highly pressred conseqently carefl planning, organisation, and creative thinking skills are soght to ensre the Service meets its stattory reqirements, as per the IASS Minimm Standards.
The post holder will be reqired to ndertake an extensive range of dties, hold a live caseload, which can inclde complex casework sch as matters relating to exclsions, and attending mlti-agency meetings, as well as managing yor own administrative dties.
Flexible working: There is some opportnity to work from home. The postholder is reqired to meet with families and professionals in the commnity throghot the week. In addition, crrently the office-based working is a minimm of 1 day a week. However, this increases as reqired by the IASS Manager, p to three days a week dring the postholder's 6-month indction.

AccontabilitiesDeliver impartial, technical and legal information and spport to parents/carers, children and yong people on all aspects of edcational provision for children and yong people with SENDWork closely with colleages within the SEND IASS team to provide continity in casework as well as from across edcation, social care and health and with edcation settings and a range of otside agencies to secre positive otcomes for families.Responsible for managing a defined caseload ensring keeping p to date accrate records and data on a daily basisProvide information, advice and spport to promote independence and self-advocacy for children, yong people, parents and carers.The Experience Yo Will BringPossesses a professional qalification at RQF level 5 (fondation degree) or eqivalent experience in a relevant area of work.Knowledge and experience of working with parents/carers of children and yong people with special edcational needs and disabilities with an nderstanding of the barriers to edcation and the isses affecting them within edcation.Awareness of the legislation and reglations for all aspects of SEND edcation provision (SEND legal training is a reqirement of SEND IAS Services, which will be provided).Ability to advise and spport parents/YP where challenge is reqired to generate options which are credible soltions to head teachers, parents, children and yong people and professionals.Efficient se of ICT to inpt all case information and spport the service in the development of reports to monitor and evalate qality.In yor application, please make clear why yo wold like to apply for this post and inclde details of the relevant skills, knowledge and experience yo will bring to the role.
