Title: Science Festival - Ambassador support

Date: 20th October - 28th October (weekend shifts available)

Time: Times vary, please see shifts below

Location: ARU Chelmsford, Chelmsford & Writtle

For this work opportunity you will be supporting the events team as an ambassador at the Science Festival. Your duties will include:

• Welcome visitors and provide directions.
• Help attendees find the correct event.
• Support visitors with accessibility requirements where possible.
• Help keep venues tidy and report issues to the Events Team.
• Keep entrances, exits and walkways clear.
• Follow instructions provided by staff.
• Remain professional, approachable and respectful at all times.
• Escalate complaints, concerns or challenging situations to the Events Team.

Event Check-in

• You may be asked to check attendees in using an iPad.
• Ensure attendees are attending the correct event.
• Check registrations using the approved booking system.
• Follow Event Team guidance regarding late arrivals, waiting lists and walk-ins.
• Do not take payments unless specifically authorised.
• Treat attendee information as confidential.
• Do not photograph attendee lists or share personal information.
• Return all equipment at the end of your shift.

Additional Information:

• Smart - an ARU T-shirt or sash will be provided
• Please wear comfortable footwear. You may be based outside for some periods so dress appropriately for the weather.
• Branded umbrellas can be provided.

Shift Times:Shifts vary, weekday shifts can be anytime from 16:00 - 20:00 and the weekend shifts can be from 07:30 - 20:00

Requirements:

• Be comfortable speaking to the public.
• Great customer service skills.
• Great communication.
• Good understanding of the campus
