This role is based across our Wiltshire Schools, with flexibility required to support other Trust schools when needed.

All about the role:This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in creating a safe, secure, and inspiring learning environment for pupils, staff, and the wider community. You will be working closely with the Trust Estates Lead and school teams, ensuring our sites are well-maintained and operate efficiently.
As the first and last face of the school each day, you will be a friendly, approachable presence for parents, pupils, staff, and visitors.
As School Caretaker, you will:
• Ensure the security, safety, and general upkeep of school buildings and grounds
• Carry out a range of maintenance and repair tasks (e.g. basic plumbing, decorating, minor repairs)
• Respond promptly to reactive and unplanned maintenance issues
• Conduct health & safety checks and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
• Oversee and liaise with external contractors, ensuring adherence to RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
• Support Trust-wide estates projects, compliance tasks, and site improvements
• Cover absence and provide support across other Trust schools where required
• Utilise school holiday periods to complete planned maintenance and improvement works
We are looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in site maintenance, caretaking, or facilities management
• Knowledgeable in health & safety and building compliance requirements
• Skilled in a range of practical DIY tasks
• Highly organised, able to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment
• A confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Calm and effective in emergency situations
• Trustworthy, discreet, and able to handle confidential information
• Professional, reliable, and committed to high standards
• Emotionally intelligent, with the ability to manage sensitive situations appropriately
Experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided.
