Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our expanding Cancer Day Unit at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Due to continued growth in our cancer services, we are looking to recruit Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse who are passionate about delivering outstanding patient-centred care and developing a career in cancer nursing. The successful candidate will care for patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and supportive treatments, working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

You will provide high-quality nursing care to oncology and haemato-oncology patients receiving SACT treatment and supportive care within the Cancer Day Unit. Working under the guidance of experienced senior nurses, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, monitor patients throughout treatment, and communicate effectively with patients, families and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment, support service improvements, participate in audit activities, and develop the specialist skills required for cancer nursing practice. As part of our growing team, you will be supported to develop knowledge.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Registered Nurse (NMC)
• Degree in Nursing or related subject
• UKONS SACT Passport
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience

Essential criteria

• Significant post-registration oncology/haematology experience
• Experience delivering SACT.
• Experience coordinating patient pathways
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
• Experience supporting education and development of staff.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Understanding of current cancer treatment pathways
• SACT administration and toxicity management
• UKONS guidance and cancer care standards
• Research governance frameworks.
