Job summaryAre you an experienced clinical leader with a passion for education and professional development?We are looking for a dynamic and compassionate Senior Clinical Educator to join our Oncology team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will help shape the future of cancer care by supporting, educating, and developing both registered and unregistered staff across our oncology services.About the RoleThe successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) education and training across oncology and haematology services. Working collaboratively with existing clinical educators, clinical teams and multidisciplinary colleagues, the post holder will support workforce development, clinical competence, and ongoing professional learning for staff involved in the administration and management of SACT.The role will include the development, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of SACT education programmes in line with national guidance, local policies, and competency frameworks. The post holder will support registered and non-registered staff, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and promote evidence-based practice to ensure excellent patient care and safety standards.This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced oncology nurse with strong clinical knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for education and professional development.

What you will bring to the role The job holder will play a lead role in ensuring the development of clinical staff, both registered and unregistered. The job holder will enable the development of clinical practice mentors, assessors and key trainers, providing supervision through on-site support and trust-wide continuous professional development activities. The post holder will be responsible for leading SACT clinical education and associated resources in their designated clinical areas. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of education.
The job holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments and implement interventions for improvement. The job holder will support mentors and assessors and ensure clinical professional development for preceptorship and other role developments. They will enhance the quality of care delivery from both the registered and unregistered workforce. The post holder may be line managing a junior clinical educator depending on the clinical service unit.
You will be expected to lead the nursing contribution to service development, ensuring the pursuit of excellence in care. The job holder will lead on the implementation and monitoring of adherence to relevant clinical guidelines, audits and research. They will function as a role model for registered and unregistered staff within the clinical area and Trust, enabling and supporting the development of interdisciplinary and cross-city working to ensure the sharing of good practice and delivery of high-quality, effective and efficient care.
