Applications are invited for the role of a Safety Camera Officers within the Criminal Justice Services Division, Safer Roads Team based at Hutton Headquarters.
The purpose of a Safety Camera Officer is to promote road safety, contributing to reducing those killed and seriously injured on Lancashire's roads and, where necessary, bringing offenders to justice. The post holder will provide a professional, efficient and effective service in relation to safety camera enforcement and associated processing.
Daily responsibilities include conducting mobile speed enforcement across the county, operating speed enforcement equipment, conducting risk assessments and assurance checks in accordance with policy and procedures, processing and maintaining accurate computerised records and data using relevant IT applications, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to respond to public speed concerns and supporting local road safety operations.
Safety Camera Officers require excellent communication skills, technical and practical competencies and the ability to multi-task and manage their workload effectively with minimal supervision.
The post holder must be willing to give evidence in court on enforcement procedures and be able to work the required shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities: - To ensure all camera equipment is properly operated and maintained to a high standard and in accordance with Home Office requirements and Constabulary policy.
- To have up to date knowledge of legislation, force policies and procedures in relation to safety camera enforcement, including speed limit orders, road signage and risk
- To collaborate with partners, including local authorities, Road Safety Support, and external suppliers, to ensure compliance with associated legal requirements and procedural rules in respect to existing and new enforcement systems.
- To support new speed concerns and specific road safety operations, working closely with the SRU Speed Concerns Coordinator and where necessary, consulting with the Roads Policing Teams and Neighbourhood Policing colleagues.

Skills and Experience: - Have completed or be willing to complete both Safety Camera Enforcement and Fixed Camera Training within 6 months of appointment.
- Have completed or be willing to complete Laser Instructor Training
- Have completed or be willing to complete Conflict Management Training
- Have completed or be willing to complete First Aid Training within 6 months of appointment.
- Have completed or be willing to complete working from heights/ladders course within 6 months of appointment.
- Must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence and successfully complete the Force Driver Assessments and drive a large van on Constabulary business.
- Experience in a technical or mechanical field of expertise
- Able to lift and carry equipment appropriate to the role
- Experience of maintaining and interrogating computerised systems
Vetting and Medical:Please be aware, as a condition of your appointment you must undergo and pass Recruitment Vetting (RV). Please be aware there is a minimum 3 year UK residency requirement for Recruitment vetting and you must be 18 years old at the point of applying. Successful applicants will also be subject to a medical assessment.
