Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy Department as a Senior Pharmacy Technician for Dispensary, Stores and Distribution on the Hammersmith hospital site, which is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual who is passionate about delivering excellent pharmacy services and ensuring the safe, efficient and effective supply of medicines across the Trust.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the operational management of the dispensary, pharmacy stores and distribution services while contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

You will need good computer skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team, and therefore excellent communication skills are essential. You must have a NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent recognized Pharmacy Technician qualification and be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and have mandatory professional CPD as defined by the GPhC.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a high quality patient focused dispensing service to wards and departments of the Trust, Medical School, associated hospitals, community clinics and on-site research centres.
  • To help ensure that service provision is flexible and responsive to customer needs.
  • To ensure the quality and accuracy of information held on the pharmacy CMM computer system in relation to stock management.
  • To help audit the service against set standards and assist in the review of service provision.
  • To support, develop and monitor the progress of all technical staff working in the dispensary (both rotational and static staff).
  • To act as an Educational Assessor/Supervisor for one or more units for training programmes for pre-registration technicians and pharmacy assistants.
