The Role

As a Retail Solution Architect, you will be responsible for designing and delivering technology solutions that optimise retail operations, planning, and profitability. You will lead the development of end-to-end retail architectures covering merchandising, supply chain, inventory, and omnichannel systems. You will collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into scalable, secure, and integrated technology solutions, driving efficiency, customer experience, and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and implement retail technology strategies aligned with business goals, covering merchandising, inventory management, forecasting, and e-commerce platforms.
• Design and architect scalable retail solutions, ensuring integration across systems and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Evaluate and optimise retail infrastructure, including networks, databases, and systems, to support operational efficiency.
• Develop data and analytics capabilities to support decision-making across sales, inventory, and customer insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including merchandising, supply chain, finance, and marketing to deliver integrated solutions.
• Analyse market trends, customer behaviour, and sales data to identify opportunities for optimisation and innovation.
• Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and data protection standards such as GDPR and PCI-DSS.
• Drive innovation by evaluating emerging retail technologies and integrating them into the enterprise landscape.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and delivery teams.
• Work with product vendors such as Blue Yonder, SAP, o9 Solutions, and Oracle to design and implement solutions aligned to business needs.

Your Profile

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in end-to-end solution architecture within retail environments across the UK or Europe.
• Experience with retail planning and supply chain solutions such as o9 Solutions, Blue Yonder, or Kinaxis.
• Deep understanding of supply chain planning processes, including merchandise planning, assortment planning, demand management, and S&OP.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret large datasets and derive actionable insights.
• Knowledge of databases and query languages such as SQL, T-SQL, or similar.
