Main duties of the job

Our dedicated Youth Justice Service within our Outstanding Childrens Services, has an availability for a passionate Restorative Justice Worker.

Our Youth Justice Service seeks to offer children, particularly those who are vulnerable, the necessary support through proactive, non-adversarial, and legally mandated interventions to improve their safety and wellbeing and prevent offending or re-offending. The Service has a crucial role in assisting children and their families to build resilience, overcome barriers, reduce concerning behaviours, and achieve positive life outcomes.

As a Restorative Justice Worker you will work with families and children who are involved in or are at risk of entering the Youth Justice System. You will liaise with victims of youth crime and their families, providing information about the System, Court and out of Court processes. As part of your duties, you will manage the assessment of victims, children and others taking part in restorative justice processes ensuring their participation is safe and appropriate and protects them from further harm.

To excel in this role, you should have an NVQ Level 4 or equivalent qualification combined with qualifications or training in Restorative Justice or comparable skills. The ability to showcase proven experience engaging with vulnerable children, alongside a strong knowledge and understanding of child and adolescent development and the risks and indicators of exploitation will be essential.
