About the roleThis is an excellent opportunity to build a research career and be a part of a translational research programme that includes both scientists and clinicians. You would join a multidisciplinary research programme focused on the investigation of metabolic heterogeneity in upper gastrointestinal cancers to develop novel stratification and treatment tools.
What you would be doingThe post holder will perform experiments required to meet grant funding milestones, provide support to the research group, Clinical Research Fellows and post-graduate students. In particular, the post holder will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of an explant tissue culture pipeline for the investigation of novel treatments for esophageal cancer. The post holder will also be exposed to parallel workstreams involving spatial multiomics in collaboration with scientists across Imperial College and other universities.
What we are looking for - Degree in Molecular, Cellular or Cancer Biology, or related field, or equivalent qualification, and/or some experience in laboratory management
- Proven experience in "wet" lab molecular biology techniques
- Experience relevant to handling and biobanking of human tissue and blood samples
- Previous experience in a research laboratory team environment Previous experience in light and fluorescent (confocal) microscopy
- Experience in mammalian cell culture, including primary tumour cell culture and functional assays, drug treatments, time course etc.
- Previous experience in histological techniques including immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence staining
- Experience in carrying through and writing up a laboratory based project
- Experience in 3D models of cancer eg. spheroids, organoids, tumour explants
- Candidates with masters-level education in molecular, cellular and/or cancer biology are invited to apply.
