Job description

About the role

Imperial College London is seeking a Property Manager to support the effective management of our diverse property portfolio, including operational, office, retail, residential and agricultural assets.

Working within the Real Estate Property Team, you will support the Senior Property Managers with the strategic and operational management of freehold and leasehold property, helping to maintain compliance, enhance value and support Imperial's wider academic and operational objectives. This is a 12-month fixed-term role, primarily based at White City with travel to other Imperial campuses.

What you would be doing

You will manage a range of property matters including site inspections, landlord and tenant issues, lease renewals and terminations, service charges, licences, rights of way and land ownership enquiries. You will also support property acquisitions and disposals, working with solicitors, agents and other professional advisers from valuation and negotiation through to formal completion.

You will maintain key property records, support rent, arrears, service charge and business-rate processes, and help monitor the performance of property assets. Working with tenants, landlords, local authorities and colleagues across Imperial, you will help ensure property matters are handled effectively, professionally and in line with statutory requirements and best practice.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced property professional with a strong understanding of landlord and tenant matters and the practical management of complex property portfolios. You will bring:
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), with at least two years' post-qualification experience
  • Graduate-level education, or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Experience of active property or estates management within a complex environment
  • Experience engaging with tenants, landlords, public bodies and communities
  • Experience evaluating commercial opportunities and conducting rent and lease reviews
  • Experience working with legal representatives and external property advisers
  • Up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements and best practice in property and estates management
  • Knowledge of planning application procedures and experience liaising with local authorities
  • Strong knowledge of service charge management
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work independently

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to use science for humanity.
  • Benefit from a sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 43 days' annual leave and generous pension schemes).
  • Access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day one, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel.
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources to support your personal and professional wellbeing
