Data Architect (Azure / Data Platform) - HybridLocation: Hybrid - UK-based (Home / HQ)Clearance: NPPV3 preferredWe require an experienced Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of a modern enterprise data platform. You will take ownership of the end-to-end data architecture, driving data strategy, governance, and platform design to enable advanced analytics, reporting, and insight across a complex organisation. This is a leadership role, working closely with senior stakeholders and guiding multidisciplinary data teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing data solutions. Key ResponsibilitiesData Architecture & StrategyOwn and deliver the enterprise data architecture strategyDesign data models, data flows, integrations, and storage solutionsAlign architecture with business objectives and data-driven initiativesLead the selection of tools, technologies, and frameworksLeadership & Stakeholder EngagementAct as the SME for data architecture across the organisationLead and mentor teams including Data Engineers and BI DevelopersEngage senior stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutionsContribute to regional/national data strategy initiativesData Solution DesignTranslate business and analytical requirements into scalable data models and data martsSupport analytics, reporting, and predictive modelling capabilitiesWork with engineering and analytics teams to deliver end-to-end solutionsData Governance & ComplianceDefine and implement data standards, classification, and governance frameworksEnsure compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR)Establish access control and data management best practicesData Integration & PlatformsDesign and oversee data integration pipelines and ingestion strategiesIdentify and onboard new internal/external data sourcesLead data migration and transformation programmesData Culture & QualityPromote data literacy and a data-driven cultureDrive improvements in data quality, processes, and standardsResolve data challenges through root cause analysis and continuous improvementEssential Skills & ExperienceProven experience as a Data ArchitectStrong experience designing and delivering modern data architecturesHands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)Strong knowledge of data modelling (dimensional and relational)Expertise in SQL and data querying technologiesExperience with data integration, ETL, and data platform technologiesStrong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance (e.g. GDPR)Excellent stakeholder management and communication skillsDesirable SkillsExperience leading data teams or managing projectsPublic sector or regulated environment experienceKnowledge of Power BI or other data visualisation toolsRelevant data architecture certificationsExposure to big data technologies and platformsAdditional RequirementsNPPV3 clearance preferredEligibility/willingness to undergo security clearance
