Tenure: Fixed term for 1 year
We are seeking to appoint five outstanding postdoctoral research associates with expertise in the synthesis and characterisation of new inorganic, hybrid and core-shell materials, with applications in electromagnetic shielding.
The successful candidates will join a world leading group in materials discovery and will play a central role in the discovery of novel inorganic materials. The project is collaborative, with a major industrial partner, and aims to identify and develop new classes of materials capable of delivering step-change advances in electromagnetic shielding performance. The project will focus on the following materials classes and experience in the synthesis and characterisation of at least one would be essential:
• Mxenes containing magnetic nuclei.
• Metal organic framework derived carbon supported magnetic nanoparticles.
• Large unit cell magnetic hexaferrites.
• Carbon based nanomaterials decorated with magnetic nanoparticles.
• PVD prepared core-multishell magnetic nanostructures.

Success in this role requires the ability to engage effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and career stage.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
