Make a Difference Across Wales The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) is looking for a skilled and motivated
Policy Officer - Refugee Resettlement to join our Strategic Migration Partnership team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in coordinating refugee resettlement programmes across Wales, working closely with local authorities, Welsh Government, UK Government departments and a wide range of partners to help refugees rebuild their lives and integrate successfully into communities.
About the RoleYou will lead on the Wales-wide coordination of refugee resettlement schemes, acting as a key point of contact for partners across the migration, asylum and refugee support sectors. You will support the delivery of programmes including the UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS), Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP), Communities for Afghans and other safe and legal routes initiatives.
Working collaboratively with all 22 Welsh local authorities and national partners, you will:
- Coordinate refugee resettlement programmes and placements across Wales.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with government departments, councils and third-sector organisations.
- Provide policy advice and guidance on migration, asylum and resettlement issues.
- Monitor and analyse policy developments and their impact on Welsh local government.
- Prepare reports, briefings and recommendations for a range of audiences.
- Support programme governance, grant monitoring and performance reporting.
- Facilitate multi-agency collaboration and promote effective integration outcomes for refugees.

- Strong knowledge of refugee, asylum and migration policy.
- Experience of developing and presenting policy information and guidance.
- Experience of working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and analytical skills.
- Experience of managing projects and grants successfully.

- Degree-level education (or equivalent experience).
