Job summary

We are lookingfor a dynamic and enthusiastic registered nurse or mental health nurse to workin the Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS). This role will predominately bein our physical health team but there is also the opportunity to undertake otherareas of work in the main team alongside this.

CEDS is anestablished multidisciplinary team which provides a service to individuals with a moderateto severe Eating Disorders.

The successfulcandidates will undertake the physical health aspects of the individuals carein accordance with their care plan. There is also the opportunity to undertakeassessments and support therapeutic interventions within the wider team. Thepost holder will need to be prepared to travel clinics in Exeter, Torbay andNorth Devon.

Experience in undertakingphysical health tests/observation and or mental health is desirable but not essential, full trainingwill be provided. An interest in the treatment and management of eating disorders is essential.

We are lookingfor a clinician with excellent communication skills who enjoys working as part of amulti-disciplinary team. We need someone who is able to be flexible and dealwith situations that can be unpredictable whilst remaining calm and patientfocused.

Current CEDS team members includes speciality Doctors, GPS,Psychological Therapists, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Dietitians,Peer Support Worker, Physical Health Clinicians and Administrators.

Main duties of the job

• To work closely with other multi-disciplinary team members in the assessment of clients needs and provision of treatment to individuals with a diagnosis of an Eating Disorder.
• To provide individual psychoeducation to patients and their family/carers especially in relation to the physical health complications associated with an eating disorder
• To ensure that clinical and professional standards are maintained.
• To assess care needs, develop, implement and evaluate individual care plans & risk assessments
• To undertake physical health assessments including observations i.e. blood pressure, weigh checks, Pulse, ECGs and take bloods.
• Facilitation, promotion and supervision of education and audit.
• To promote and improve quality of service provided.

Essential

• Degree level qualification and professional registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

• MSc or BSc in Advanced Professional Practice or Nurse Practitioner
• Nurse Prescriber qualification
• Qualification / training in medical monitoring / investigation interpretation, e.g. blood results, ECG
• Recognised management training and qualification or willingness to work toward it
• Training to Level 4 in Safeguarding children, young people and adults: roles and competencies for Health Care staff

Experience

Essential

• At least Two years post registration, with at least 2 years experience working as a qualified Nurse Practitioner
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to work flexibly across service boundaries and with professionals from health care settings such as GPs, District General Hospitals
• To effectively manage own caseload and work flexibly to support service needs
• Basic knowledge of eating disorders and their potential impact on physical health
