Job summary

The role ofthe Physical Activity Clinical Champion (PACC) is to organise and deliverclinician to clinician training on physical activity called ChampioningMovement for Health to other NHS healthcare professionals. The training particularly focuses on themanagement and prevention of long-term conditions and how to support healthcareprofessionals improve patient care and outcomes.As a nationalPACC and practising clinician you will work closely with the central PACC team,and team of national PACCs, to deliver the peer-to-peer training online acrossthe country and locally through online and face to face sessions. You will be part of a larger network ofnational, place-based and Specialist Registrar PACCs delivering core PACCtraining and condition specific slide sets.You will make use of your own networks and build relationships withlocal and regional stakeholders and organisations, support an online nationalPACC Forum, and encourage healthcare professionals across the country tocontinue to develop their knowledge and skills.

You willstrengthen national capacity and leadership for physical activity by supportingthe development of PACC training materials and other capacity buildingresources such podcasts and contribute towards reducing health inequalities byworking across the healthcare sector to improve awareness of physical activityin the prevention and treatment of long-term conditions.

Main duties of the job

To deliver Physical Activity ClinicalChampion (PACC) educational training and resources for community and patientfacing healthcare professionals across the country.

To strengthen national capacity andleadership for physical activity by supporting the development of PACC trainingmaterials and other capacity building resources.

To contribute towards reducing healthinequalities by working across the healthcare sector to improve awareness ofphysical activity in the prevention and treatment of long-term conditions. Recognising the complexity of enabling peopleto get physically active and that wider determinants of health affect peopledifferently.

Deliver the peer-to-peer training online across thecountry and locally through online and face to face sessions.

To build relationships and engage with local networks,including healthcare and community providers, Active Partnerships and PublicHealth teams to explore opportunities for collaboration, promote the role ofphysical activity and promote training for relevant workforces.

To promote local physical activity signposting throughreferrals into national and local physical activity pathways and captureinsight and learning to shape delivery of the pathway.

Support the national online PACC Forum community ofpractice to encourage sharing of ideas, learning and knowledge using MovingMedicine community of practice infrastructure.

To encourage healthcare professionals in the PACCForum and your locality to continue to develop their knowledge and skills and,where appropriate, encourage others to deliver education using PACC and otherMHPP resources.

As aclinical champion a National PACC will:

Link with training leads in NHS trusts to identifytraining opportunities with their respective health professional cohorts anddeliver a standard training package (which you will be trained to deliver) togroups of NHS HCPs in hospitals or in the community / primary care setting.

Engage with and promote collaborative partnerships andprojects designed to support implementation of evidenced based interventions toreduce inactivity and promote physical activity across the life course atnational, regional, and local levels.

Strengthen national capacity and leadership forphysical activity by supporting the development of PACC training materials andother capacity building resources such podcasts and e-learning modules acrossthe health system.

Engage with PACC infrastructure (governance groups,stakeholder engagement, academic partnerships, networks, strategy, planning andguidance) and use this insight to enable clinicians and clinical networks todeliver coherent evidence-based information relating to physical activity topatients, and practical interventions in their everyday practice.

Help to develop and support the PACC programmenational marketing strategy and relevant collateral. Where applicable advocating at local andnational events as required and able.

Support the evaluation of the programme by collectingdata and ensuring timely completion of forms for each training session.

Travel as required and reasonable.
