Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and reliablePorter to join our well-established team and support the delivery of a modern pharmacy service at#TeamIOWNHS

Our busy, fully automated pharmacy department provides a comprehensive, patient-focused service, and this role is an important part of ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the department.

The successful applicant will be physically fit and capable of undertaking manual handling duties. You will have excellent practical problem-solving and prioritisation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and work positively with a wide range of people.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has a proactive approach to their work, and is keen to learn and develop within the role. Applicants should be flexible, able to work under pressure, and committed to delivering a high standard of service.

Main duties of the job

To undertake portering duties for the Pharmacy Department, this will include the safe transportation of medicines, intravenous fluids, medical gases and pharmacy waste. Provide effective input into the work of the Trust, to support the achievement of our vision and values.

Provide prompt and safe delivery of all medicines including Controlled Drugs, following strict procedures to ensure timely supply of medicines to wards and units.Receive and sign for the deliveries of medicines direct from manufacturers as appropriate, including checking off and putting away intravenous and irrigation fluids and assisting delivery drivers/stores manager as necessary.Ensure completion of relevant documentation whilst carrying out duties; including obtaining authorised signatures from ward staff on delivery of medicines and recording of orders and stock takes for medical gas cylinders.
